C-VERSO is pleased to announce an exciting new project with Edo Bertoglio, a Swiss photographer and filmmaker known for his relationship with the NYC cultural scene in the 1980s.

We are launching the first NFT drop of one of his iconic photographs on SuperRare, the most important NFT sales platform. You have now the chance to bid on Basquiat’s Adidas (edition 1/1) with Ethereum directly on the platform or by getting in touch with us.

For this first approach to digital art, the photographer decided to present a unique edition of a portrait of the well-known American artist Jean-Michele Basquiat. Moreover, this is only the first photo involved in the project, which will embrace most of his production.

In 1976 Edo Bertoglio moved to New York, where he stayed for fourteen years.
He worked as a staff photographer for Andy Warhol’s Interview, documenting the artistic and musical lives of figures from the 1970s and 1980s downtown scene, such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Deborah Harry and John Lurie.

Bertoglio’s directions helped shape a piece of New York history during the city’s artistic and cultural heyday. His photographs appeared in leading fashion, music, art and pop culture magazines.

The result of the relationship between Edo and Basquiat can be seen in the film Downtown 81. Edo directed the movie from December 1980 – to January 1981, written by Glenn O’Brien and produced by Maripol. Downtown 81 shows a typical day of the young artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, unknown at the time, and gives a view of the vibrant artistic and musical community of the then New York downtown scene.

“ Jean Michel was an unpredictable actor, I suppose he never read the script…. but his stage presence was an art in itself ”
